Levain Bakery Is Opening in Rittenhouse on Friday, Oct. 11 | Eater Philly
"Located at 1518 Walnut Street inside a thoughtfully redesigned former bank, Levain Bakery in Rittenhouse opens on October 11 as both a retail bakery and production space; I note the space retains original architectural elements and features a hand-painted mural by Philly’s Tara Jacoby with hidden nods to the city. Founded in 1995 on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and now with 14 other locations nationwide, the shop will serve its iconic six-ounce cookies in six flavors — chocolate chip walnut (also available gluten-free/vegan), dark chocolate chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, dark chocolate peanut butter chip, two chip chocolate chip, and the new caramel coconut chocolate chip — plus a seasonal fall chocolate chunk flavored with ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and molasses. In addition to the notable cookies, they’ll offer coffee, seasonal breads, loaf cakes, pastries, brioche, and weekend-only sticky buns, all baked in-house daily, as well as local delivery via DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats, catering assortments, and Philly-themed merchandise. The grand opening begins Friday morning at 8 am with a ribbon cutting, a Philly tote bag giveaway and free swag for the first 100 guests, weekend surprises, and opening day proceeds donated to local anti-poverty nonprofit Broad Street Love; the bakery will be open daily from 7 am to 11 pm." - Ernest Owens
