"Reopening more than two years after its downtown Charleston closure, this Mexican restaurant at 3140 Maybank Highway relaunches on Thursday, June 9 under Neighborhood Dining Group with chef Shamil Velazquez (also of Delaney Oyster House) leading the kitchen. Velazquez restores classics from the original 2014 menu—charcoal-grilled wings dressed in Valentina hot sauce and benne salsa and the super-stuffed burrito topped with Oaxaca cheese—while introducing new items like fajitas, Yucatan-style fish with pibil sauce, shrimp and snapper ceviche, and a weekend breakfast burrito. The bar brings back the frozen El Satanico and adds a frosé sangria. The light, airy dining room is decorated with Oaxacan alebrijes and opens onto a climate-controlled patio with neon orange and green seating and plenty of plants. Service is first-come, first-served; hours are 4–9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and 4–11 p.m. Friday and Saturday." - Erin Perkins
