"Opening its first Houston location next month, I learned that the Austin-based, family-run wood-fired coffee shop Summer Moon inked a 1,800-square-foot deal at KM Realty’s Kingsland Plaza (19901 Kingsland Boulevard) in Katy. The chain has grown to eight locations in the Austin area (up from four in 2017), with additional spots in nearby cities like San Marcos and Buda serving coffee and breakfast tacos. They work with brick, fire, and oak wood to craft custom coffee roasts and expect weekly shipments to roll into the Katy location. Their proprietary "Moon Milk," a blend of all-natural, unrefined sugar with hints of spice, is used to build whole moon, half-, and quarter-moon lattes, and Ryan Richardson, Summer Moon’s Houston licensee, is a Katy native." - Tierney Plumb
