"Chef Carlos Baez has bolstered the seafood-driven menu at Mr. Crisp. His resume includes working with chefs Josh Thompson and Hugh Acheson in Atlanta. His technical acuity is visible on the plate. Yes, there’s fried fish, including a whole black bass, traditional fish and chips, and an ideally crispy cod sandwich, but plates like a forbidden black rice salad with daikon and chermoula show a side of the Historic Overbrook kitchen that felt absent in past iterations. A snapper ceviche, served with plantain chips, is a nod to Baez’s Puerto Rican heritage. There are also notable desserts, like a vegan chocolate budino by pastry chef Kendall Baez.
