"I've found the retro-themed, 1950s-inspired Classic Jewel lounge at the Juhl apartment building to be a compact but popular spot: launched almost two years ago in a 1,052-square-foot space, it has built a loyal fan base for its cocktail program, long bar, plush booth seating, sidewalk area and a diverse roster of live entertainment staged by the front window. New plans would add the adjacent 1,031-square-foot suite 109 into its footprint to create more seating, an adaptable area for events and an upstairs room for back-of-house needs, and would also provide another 115 square feet for outdoor seating. Co-created by building resident Jerome Harry, the walls are decorated with images of a bygone era, yet the venue actively hosts contemporary live music and comedy nights; no timetable for completion has been announced, and initial work is not expected to impact day-to-day operations." - Bradley Martin
