"A family-run Italian specialty market opened in 1986 and inspired by 1950s Manhattan deli culture, this tightly packed shop offers a wide selection of dried pastas, jars of marinated vegetables, frozen staples like ravioli and bolognese, deli meats, and Italian cookies sold by the pound. Its real draw is a made-to-order sandwich counter in the back with 26 sandwiches on thick Italian bread; the meatball sub is the longtime favorite, while the Stoffato (the #7) — mortadella, capicola, provolone, lettuce, and special sauce — is hearty and spicy, and the owner’s off-menu favorite combines mortadella, black pepper, olive oil, and sharp provolone. Weekday lunchtimes bring packed patio seating and steady local devotion, bolstered by consistent pricing and quality.
