"I learned Zig Zag Smokin’ Burger will open Aug. 28 in Greenwood Village in the former Gunther Toody’s Diner space; the family-owned Surf’s Up Hospitality, which operated Gunther Toody’s, will run the 6,667-square-foot restaurant. The spot promises a sleek diner look with a touch of funky and a craft booze bar, and will be open daily from 11 a.m. to midnight (until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday). The preview menu features appetizers such as Brussels sprouts, chopped chicken liver, and crispy fries topped with Gruyere Mornay and a fried egg, along with charred shishito peppers and fried pig joints; sandwiches include a Triple Pig with smoked pulled pork, ham, and bacon, and a five-cheese sandwich; there are several burgers including a vegetarian Portobello-and-risotto option, plus entrees like pan-seared Cajun shrimp and fish, duck hash, pork shoulder adobo, and Asian crispy sticky chicken." - Susan Stapleton
