"After a $300,000 expansion that added a new bar, roughly 20 seats, and more kitchen and storage space, this 14-year-old neighborhood taproom reopened in early July — only to be inundated the next day when floodwaters rose to about 39 inches in its low-lying location less than a block from the North Branch of the Winooski River. Co-owner Kevin Kerner, who oversaw the renovation and has experience recovering from prior floods, expects flood insurance will cover roughly $95,000 for damaged refrigeration and equipment and says the business will rebuild; he also wants to work with officials to help other merchants prepare better for future events." - Jacqueline Cain
