Korean Barbecue Restaurant Honeypig Opens in Houston’s Asiatown - Eater Houston

"A popular East Coast Korean barbecue restaurant has finally landed in Houston’s Asiatown. Honey Pig BBQ opened Saturday, December 5 at 9140B Bellaire Blvd in Diho Sqaure. The restaurant was originally founded in Annandale, Virgina, in 2007 by Korean immigrant Micky Kim. Since then, Kim’s culinary empire has expanded to other cities in Virginia and Maryland, and an outpost in Taipei City, Taiwan. The Houston location is the first in Texas. Facebook photos show a sizable crowd turned out for the first night of service. The restaurant is known for its large spreads of premium but affordable meats, like beef rib kalbi, cooked on the tabletop alongside kimchi, seafood, savory pajeon pancakes and other sides. The restaurant also boasts a kitschy atmosphere, with colorful posters on the walls, K-Pop blaring nonstop, and a playful staff. An adorable cartoon of Micky Kim, with her impressive trademark bouffant hairdo and thick, glamorous eyelashes, graces the restaurant’s logo. For now, Honey Pig is limiting occupancy to 50% and parties to six people or less.
