"A new Baja-inspired restaurant is proposed for Pier 33 1/2 by partners Mick Suverkrubbe and Dena Grunt of Highway 1 Hospitality (they operate Nick’s Cove in Marin and recently closed Contrada in SF). Dubbed PuertoSF for now, the plan calls for full-service meals plus a walk-up window for street tacos — “we're gonna wear many hats in that location,” Suverkrubbe says — and the partners hope the heavy Embarcadero foot traffic will help offset the high cost of doing business. They’ve been pursuing the space for nine months; the lease isn’t finalized, and the proposal needs Port Commission approval this month and Board of Supervisors sign-off in November before it could open as soon as next spring." - Caleb Pershan
