"Scheduled to open by January 2025, the Avenue Fish & Oyster Company will replace the recently shuttered Islander and sit next to Blue Bridge Hospitality’s ice cream parlor, MooTime Creamery. Operated by Blue Bridge Hospitality and led in the kitchen by veteran chef Paul Arias—who trained with Jeff Jackson at the Lodge at Torrey Pines and spent 12 years as executive chef at the Fishery after long tenures at A.R. Valentien—its menu will be centered on seafood from local vendors, oysters sourced from around the world, and seasonal ingredients. The space is set for a complete renovation into an art nouveau motif with a color palette of seafoam greens, blues, and lilacs. To pair with crudo, shellfish, and whole fish there will be a robust cocktail program and a wine list emphasizing white wines and bubbles, and the restaurant plans to be open for weekday lunches, weekend brunches, and dinner every night. Its name is an amalgamation honoring two historic Coronado venues—the Fish Company restaurant and the Avenue gift shop—that are no longer in operation." - Helen I. Hwang
