"I'm excited that Silicon Valley standout Barefoot Coffee Roasters is coming to Solana Beach’s Cedros Design district as part of the newly-remodeled Cedros Collective mixed-use complex, due in early summer in a 1,300-square-foot cafe with a 540-square-foot patio. It's the company’s second cafe location and its first in Southern California; launched in 2003 as a roastery and cafe in Santa Clara, Barefoot was named a top boutique roaster by Food & Wine Magazine and is dedicated to direct-trade sourcing and roasting in small batches. In addition to specialty coffee and organic tea, the cafe will offer beer, wine, and a light food menu, feature its award-winning single-origin cold brew (also available in bottles), and serve specialty treats including the Mocha Borgia with orange and dark chocolate and the Bareffogato Sundae with espresso or cold brew, organic ice cream, chocolate, and granola. Co-owners Jon and Jillian Dolin cite the city’s appreciation for elevated coffee (comparable to its love of craft beer) as a reason for expansion, Jillian is a native San Diegan, they are actively searching for more San Diego locations, and the company also runs a cafe in Campbell and wholesales its coffee to large tech companies, restaurants, specialty markets, museums, and universities." - Candice Woo
