"After nine years at 1632 Sansom Street, I'm noting that the Federal Donuts shop there will close to make way for demolition of the 1600 block in Center City, with final service on Wednesday, February 24; the last week of service starts today. The Sansom spot was the chain's second location, opening a year after the original in Pennsport. Grapefruit brûlée doughnut fans need not despair: the closure will be followed by a temporary Sansom location to be announced, and the team is scouting a more permanent site near Rittenhouse that would join its five other brick-and-mortar shops. For the final week at 1632, the shop is bringing back a retired favorite—the Shabazi fried chicken dry-rubbed with a spice blend of green chiles, parsley, coriander, and sumac—so be sure to get your kicks and a side of za'atar fries while you still can." - Dayna Evans
