"An all-you-can-eat shabu shabu newcomer from the Octopus Restaurant group (operators of Gen Korean BBQ, Downtown’s Shinya Maru and the forthcoming Broth Shabu) has opened in the Spring Oaks Shopping Center on Spring Mountain Road. Occupying a former 6,000-square-foot corner space next to Ding Tea, Honey Pig and Crown & Anchor British Pub, the restaurant is currently conducting temperature checks and has temporarily paused its self-service salad and ingredients bar, instead having diners pick items from a menu. The offering centers on table-side hot pot preparation with five broth choices — house blend, regular or spicy miso, tonkotsu made with garlic pork, and a sukiyaki with a “secret blend of spices” — and an array of appetizers (gyoza, chicken karaage, japchae, stir-fried rice cakes). Proteins include pork shoulder, U.S. wagyu sirloin tip, beef toro and a restaurant-special prime flat iron steak; sake, soju and cocktails are also served. Pricing is listed at $17.99 for lunch (served until 3 p.m. Monday–Friday) and $16.99 for dinner, and hours are noon–10 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday–Saturday." - Bradley Martin
