"Plans are underway to open a second Metropolitan Variety location on the ground level of the 11-story Kahn Building at 7430 in New Center; the casual convenience store will offer freshly-made grab-and-go items, beer and wine, coffee, and basic pantry items and is expected to serve as an amenity for residents. The restaurant side has shifted since opening in 2021 to focus primarily on pizza: demand for its square pan pie (more of a grandma pan-style than a Detroit square) prompted a menu pivot from the original modern Cal‑Mex approach to more casual offerings, including square pan pies and New York-style pizza available by the slice from the adjoining Variety Store." - Serena Maria Daniels
