"Centered on bourbon and American whiskey, I found Elm Street Cask & Kitchen in the space previously occupied by Grayson Social at 1525 Elm Street to have a deep bar program — patrons can consult the restaurant’s own “Whiskey Bible” with back stories and tasting notes on more than 200 varieties, from Kentucky distilleries like Buffalo Trace to small-batch producers such as MB Roland, George Dickel, and Prichard’s. The cocktail menu is bourbon-forward: try a Kentucky Buck made with Four Roses Bourbon, fresh muddled strawberries, lemon, ginger and bitters; a Peach Tea Punch with Bulleit Bourbon, sweet tea and peaches; or the CK Mint Julep with Maker’s Mark Bourbon, mint syrup and bitters, though there are also cocktails with mezcal or rum and options like whiskey flights, beer, and wine. The food leans toward Southern comfort — shrimp and blue corn grits with andouille sausage and smoked gouda, fried green tomatoes with Texas caviar succotash, and beer can chicken with apple cornbread stuffing, almonds, and charred carrots — and dinner is available daily until 10 p.m. with the bar open until midnight; lunch service begins next week on Monday, February 25." - Adele Chapin
