"Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, this catering space and cooking school offers a dedicated Rosh Hashanah menu for those who prefer not to cook, featuring braised brisket with tomato and kosher wine sauce; honey-basil-glazed chicken; Carolina Gold rice with pomegranate and artichokes; challah with apple butter; and an apple buckle cake with cardamom-peppercorn honey caramel. Owner-chef Alyssa Wilen and her husband Andrew began offering Rosh Hashanah meals last year after a successful debut and had previously sold Thanksgiving sides; the business expanded from a cooking school into a takeout/delivery meal service in 2019 and saw its to-go family table meals take off during the COVID shutdowns. Meals are available for pre-order until Thursday, September 22 at noon, and the team provides convenient prepared dinners for Charlotte and nearby communities; Alyssa notes that, while most of the staff are not Jewish, they’ve learned to make the brisket well and she enjoys serving the same dishes she makes at home." - Erin Perkins
