All-Outdoor Barbecue Joint and Craft Distillery Join Thorn Brewing in Barrio Logan | Eater San Diego

"Housed in the 40,000-square-foot former Fraser’s Boiler Service building, this newly activated dining and drinking destination—dubbed the 'Acre of Awesome'—brings together multiple employee-owned concepts led by Thorn Brewing founder Dennis O’Connor. I appreciated the sustainably minded design from creative director Christine Cole, who used up-cycled elements (a bar made from a repurposed horse trailer and furniture from shuttered restaurants) and implemented a zero-waste approach with no single-use plastics and partnerships to turn kitchen scraps into compost or animal feed.
