"Inside the historic Detroit Club, I previewed a new cocktail lounge called the Library that overlooks Fort Street and debuts to the public on Monday, January 14. The menu—developed with Detroit bar veterans Tara Jagodzinski and Mitch Nigl—mixes classics and originals, including a Bee’s Knees, a Suntory Toki–based Mirin Ball cocktail with mirin, lemon, egg white, sesame oil and cardamom smoke, and the Ms. Found in a Bottle (Botanist gin, aperol, aquavit, lemon, and mirepoix). Some drinks arrive in fancy circular porthole infusers; there’s also a selection of wines and small plates, with drinks priced between $10 and $18. The room itself features built-in bookcases, deep-grained oak panelling and a 20-foot-high crystal chandelier, and the Library will offer non-members a chance to see inside the club without paying full membership fees. It’s open 5 p.m.–10 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday and 5 p.m.–midnight Friday–Saturday." - Brenna Houck
