"To mark the accession of Japan’s new emperor on May 1, a hotel restaurant is offering the Golden Giant Burger: an extravagant, theatrical shareable burger priced at $900. It measures nearly 10 inches across and weighs about 6.6 pounds total; the central patty alone is roughly 2.2 pounds, with additional Kuroge Wagyu steak and foie gras added on top. A chef slices fresh truffles tableside and the sandwich is finished with a gold powder–infused top bun. Two whole sliced onions, lettuce, cherry tomatoes and a plain-seeming cheddar provide contrast to the richness; the dish is intended for at least six people (around $150 per person)." - Tim Forster
