Raleigh’s First ‘Leisure Bar’ Lagoon Set to Open Spring 2021 | Eater Carolinas

"Born from an opportunity to take over the shipping container above the barbecue joint, Lagoon is envisioned as a self-styled “leisure bar” from Jake Wood and beverage director Zack Thomas that channels mid-70s/mid-80s resort-style drinks with tiki influences while remaining its own thing. Drinks are intended to be boozy, thoughtfully constructed, easy to pair with barbecue and oysters, and made with local spirits when possible; the program includes frozen slushie-style cocktails (branded as “NICEEs”) like smoked Cherry Coke slushies and a boozy house-made Sun Drip, plus nostalgic branded souvenir cups, fun garnishes, and a “dope playlist.” Designed by Matthew Konar and Jenn Truman with branding help from Paul Tuorto, Lagoon’s vibe is described as a beachside resort with something lurking in the water — an old-school beach dive offering escapism — with upstairs bar seating and a more dialed-up beverage menu; Lagoon planned to open in March 2021 and will run pop-ups around the Carolinas (recently teaming up with Outer Banks Distilling)." - Jenn Rice
