"I've learned construction has lagged on the new Cultura restaurant in the Sloans development, but owner Lorenzo Nuñez Jr. says the project is still moving forward with an opening now planned for early fall. The 4,000-square-foot space at 1565 North Raleigh Street briefly faced possible repossession after Regatta Sloan’s Lake posted a May 21 notice saying Cultura owed about $27,000 in common-area maintenance and other charges, a debt Nuñez calls a misunderstanding. He estimated construction would begin within 30 days and take roughly three months, and has switched general contractors because of delays. When it opens, the menu will span Latin America and Spain—highlighting three countries’ cuisines at once and then rotating—and the restaurant will seat 275 to 300 across a main-floor dining area, mezzanine, and outdoor patio; his nephew David Lopez will serve as executive chef and oversee the kitchens at both Cultura and El Chingon." - Josie Sexton
