"A Waxahachie bar and grill opened five years ago by radio personality Big Al Mack, it hosted a gubernatorial campaign event for Beto O’Rourke on August 7 that drew thousands rather than the few hundred expected. Mack thanked the crowd, joked about creating a campaign-themed menu (including wings, a brisket sandwich, a BLT, bacon jalapeños, and a salad), and promoted his restaurant while speaking from the Ellis County courthouse square; a Facebook Live of the event and subsequent press coverage prompted social-media calls for a boycott. The restaurant’s Yelp page saw a dip in ratings and is being monitored for negative reports. Mack has urged people not to boycott restaurants over the event and warned that critics are targeting the wrong businesses." - Courtney E. Smith
