El Zaguán Mexican Bistro replaces El Sombrero in Downtown Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Operating out of a building constructed in 1935 on Main Street, this long-running Mexican restaurant had served downtown diners since 1950 before closing without fanfare last year. The 2,640-square-foot stand-alone space was last refreshed in 2014, when owner Irma Aguirre (of Mundo fame) overhauled the exterior, interior design and menu. The brand drew controversy in 2016 after a high-profile visit from then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, which prompted political boycotts, and the future of the location’s decades-old, neon-trimmed rooftop billboard remains uncertain as new owners prepare to relaunch the site under a different name and with a revamped menu." - Bradley Martin
