"A bit outside Potrero Hill, Saap Ver has become one of my favorites for delivery and dining out after Thai friends turned me onto what the restaurant calls its “authentic country-style Thai street food”; colorful Thai movie posters and bunting give the place a lively, fun feel. I like to order the stir-fried squid in a salted egg yolk sauce punctuated by bell pepper, carrot, and scallions, and the Thai shrimp paste fried rice with sweet pork, Chinese sausage, and dried shrimp. I’ll often get a huge bowl of beef noodle soup with flank steak, beef meatballs, Chinese broccoli, bean sprout, and celery — it’s my go-to alternative to pho because it’s hearty, familiar, and has a different flavor I really enjoy." - Dianne de Guzman
