"A plush, lobby cocktail lounge created as a deliberately transportive, slightly romantic and mysterious hotel bar, developed by ASH NYC with chef Kate Williams and partner Matt Wang. The space draws on vintage Hollywood and European touches — booths and wall motifs nod to Perino’s, Italian 1950s sconces, 1980s back-bar accoutrements, a 1970s disco ball from Paris, and walls finished in a lustrous “Jayne Mansfield pink” auto paint — anchored by a curved marble bar beneath a dramatic multi-tiered glass chandelier made of 670 pieces that required major ceiling reinforcement when its true 1,500-pound weight was discovered. The menu leans classic-but-exciting: bar snacks such as spiced nuts, potato chips, and olives, a rotating candy selection beginning with a sea-salt Butterfinger, two draft beers, one draft cocktail, four canned beers, nine wines by the glass, a Ramona canned wine spritzer from Jordan Salcito, and Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé by the bottle. Cocktail highlights developed with bartender Marlowe Johnson and Christian Stachel include the Bubble Rum (extra dry rum, bubble gum syrup, lemon sherbet, suze bitters, and hopped grapefruit bitters), a New Gimlet served with a floating nasturtium leaf and finger-lime “caviar,” and a classic gin martini. The bar has been hosting invitation-only previews ahead of its public debut." - Brenna Houck
