"Just in time for the weather to get nice, Downtown Dallas’s newest open-air beer drinking destination Jaxon Texas Kitchen and Beer Garden will make its debut next month. The restaurant announced its impending arrival on March 2 at the AT&T Discovery District at 311 South Akard Street in a press release on Tuesday, and it’s seriously massive. The restaurant will boast a 4,400 square foot dining room that will offer seating for upwards of 160 diners alongside a gigantic 10,000 square foot patio that will face an equally enormous, 104-feet-tall “media wall” that will show “movies, sports, curated digital art, and more throughout the year,” per the release. As far as the food is concerned, look forward to a menu of Southern influenced comfort food from chef David Gilbert, a James Beard Award nominee. Dishes like sticky ribs in tamarind barbecue sauce are on the menu, along with beef fat french fries, green chili and brisket mac-and-cheese, and smoky chicken posole. Barbecue will be a significant part of the menu, with options ranging from vegetarian smoked cauliflower to the traditional ribs, brisket, sausage, and pulled pork. On the boozy side of the menu, longtime Dallas barman Alex Fletcher has selected a line-up of more than 30 beers on tap, along with crowd-friendly cocktails like mango margaritas spiked with chamoy. When Jaxon Texas Kitchen arrives, it will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to midnight, and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m." - Amy McCarthy
