"After years of anticipation, Singapore’s xiao long bao specialist has made its Los Angeles debut at the Americana at Brand, opening on Friday, November 21 in the former Din Tai Fung space. The Glendale location serves eight flavors of xiao long bao, including black truffle, kimchi, garlic, barbecue pulled pork, and crab roe, alongside fluffy pan-fried Shanghai pork buns, sweet-and-sour chicken, pork chop fried rice, and crispy prawns with walnuts. Desserts span chewy black sesame mochi, a chocolate lava bun decorated to look like a panda, salted egg yolk xiao long bao, and chilled mango pudding. A new cocktail menu by Chris Amirault features the tropical, gin-based Singapore Sling (whose roots trace back to 1915 at Singapore’s Raffles Hotel), the Lychee Kiss as a take on a lychee martini, and the Dynasty Heat that hews closer to a spicy margarita. This marks the second U.S. location, following the brand’s 2021 stateside debut at South Coast Plaza." - Rebecca Roland
