"On the edge of Eagle Rock and Highland Park, I found that Silver Lake’s female-centric wine shop has opened a second location at 4627 York Boulevard. The original outpost on Virgil, which dates to 2017, managed to push through the early days of the pandemic thanks to robust takeaway sales, and owners Coly Den Haan and Angelica Luna are now expanding east. The new space, which opens Saturday, November 20, will keep daily hours from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and focuses on wines from global female winemakers as well as products from women-owned businesses; it will also expand into the takeaway food space — not as extensive a deli and produce section as Cookbook Market but offering ready-to-eat items and take-home meals à la Atwater Village’s Wine & Eggs, including sandwiches from Otoño chef Teresa Montaño, sourdough doughnuts from former underground bakery Gemini Bakehouse, frozen take-home pizzas from La Morra, and bags of coffee from Canyon Coffee. It’s well-placed just blocks from Occidental College and near a wave of incoming restaurants on York, from a Charleston-styled seafood spot from the Found Oyster team to a pizza-and-bagel operation from chef Bradford Kent, plus other nearby draws like vegan sports bars, Kumquat Coffee, and Taiwanese favorite Joy." - Farley Elliott
