The Second Location of Mexican and Latin Restaurant Alma Cocina Opens in Buckhead, Atlanta - Eater Atlanta
"The second location of modern Mexican restaurant Alma Cocina opens for dinner on Tuesday, February 4, in Buckhead. The Fifth Group-backed establishment resides on the ground floor of building 100 in the Terminus complex at the corner of Peachtree Street and Piedmont Road. Alma Cocina first opened at One Ninety One Peachtree Tower in downtown Atlanta nine years ago. Longtime Alma Cocina chef Chad Clevenger now leads the kitchen in Buckhead, while former Alma sous chef, Robert Rambo, takes over at the downtown restaurant. Most of the Buckhead menu remains similar to that of its downtown location, with a few new dishes from Clevenger like masa fried shrimp and chile en nogada, a poblano pepper stuffed with fried cauliflower, black beans, butternut squash, pomegranate, and walnut sauce. Popular Alma dishes such as the roasted chicken mole, fried avocado tacos, and pork lechoncito (suckling pig) tamale are also on the menu in Buckhead. As for drinks, expect cocktails using agave-based spirits as well as pisco, mezcal, and rum. A weekend brunch is served starting at 11 a.m. offering breakfast burritos filled with scrambled eggs, chihuahua cheese, and chorizo, tres leches French toast, and a savory breading pudding (capirotada) consisting of chorizo, rajas, and chihuahua cheese. Lunch service begins Monday, February 10, followed by weekend brunch starting on Saturday, February 15.
