"I found the closure of this legendary Los Angeles bakery abrupt: after 35 years the owners announced on Instagram and the bakery’s website that all six locations (Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Encino, West Hollywood, and San Fernando) closed on December 31, 2023, citing the challenges of running a bakery in California, lease obligations, and the difficulty of paying a living wage without raising the cost of goods.
