"Scheduled to close permanently on April 1, the bar at 957 Dorchester Ave. in Dorchester is being cleared for a new five-story mixed-use development after the buildings housing it and the neighboring Dorchester Market were sold to a developer in June 2017. Located near the JFK/UMass MBTA stop and close to the Banshee and Pantry Pizza & Kitchen, Tom English’s will be replaced by a building that reportedly includes residences and a restaurant space, and the developer planned to offer space to Dorchester Market in the new project. Its closure continues a trend of longtime Dorchester establishments shutting in recent years, including the Cornerstone Pub and Centre Bar." - Dana Hatic
