"A Texas-inspired restaurant from chef Briana Valdez and her close-knit team is opening a Playa Vista location in early fall. Built on the quick success of a Los Feliz original and a recently opened Highland Park outpost, the spot is known for bargain sub-$4 breakfast tacos made with handmade flour tortillas, served alongside Austin’s Cuvée coffee and comfort sides like queso and Frito pies. The Highland Park site’s big patio and full liquor license (margaritas and Shiner Bock among the offerings) signal similar late-morning and all-day appeal for the new location. Expect the same rough-hewn wood, sunny artwork, bench seating, and a neighborhood vibe that often produces lines out the door each morning. Valdez has held the lease since last year and plans a roughly three-month build-out with a hoped-for September opening." - Farley Elliott
