"I learned that Olivia’s Bistro opens today at 4 p.m. in Newton’s Nonantum neighborhood (136 Adams St.), bringing a wood-fired oven for Neapolitan pizzas and a broader selection of Italian dishes. The owners — Dessy Rushe, who spent 20 years as general manager at The Burren, and Karl Roche of West Street Tavern — partnered with chef John Hanlon, who arrives after five years at Michael Schlow’s Alta Strada. The menu includes antipasti (meats, cheese, and vegetables), salads, mussels, and bruschetta; mains such as chicken parm, grilled hanger steak, pan-roasted chicken, and braised lamb shank; several pasta options including a squid ink linguini; and pizzas ranging from a classic Margherita to a multi-cheese white, a sausage pie, one topped with prosciutto, and a clams-with-white-sauce pie. They’re serving craft beers on tap and a selection of cocktails, with bar hours Sunday–Wednesday 4–11:30 p.m. and Thursday–Saturday 4–12:30 a.m., and restaurant service Sunday–Wednesday 5–10 p.m. and Thursday–Saturday until 11 p.m." - Dana Hatic
