"On a hot day in Uptown Oakland I grabbed a $4 light-roast batch-brew at The Crown and found a nutty, toasty cup with lovely high notes that wasn’t overpowering — the kind of black coffee that can convert nonbelievers. The shop serves 16-ounce coffees as the tasting room for legendary green coffee importer Royal Coffee (running strong since 1978); I paired it with a pineapple cake from the Bake Sump pastry case and enjoyed a perfect summer-friendly hot cup." - Eater Staff
