"Run by high school students Sarah Zeng and Alice Huang, Dough Re Mi was a cookie delivery service that began in spring 2020 to raise money for people affected by COVID and will cease deliveries on Saturday, August 6 as the founders head to Rice University and UC Berkeley; they described halting the service as “definitely bittersweet,” calling the experience an amazing lesson in entrepreneurship, teamwork, and practical life skills. The business offered small cookies in classic flavors like chocolate chip and peanut butter as well as specialties such as matcha-white-chocolate-macadamia and a chocolate cookie topped with buttercream frosting, sprinkles, and a cherry, plus vegan and gluten-free variations and dog treats. The duo initially donated 80% of proceeds to All Together ATX and later directed that same percentage to United Way, and they handled deliveries and pickups on Saturdays with orders available now until the final delivery date." - Nadia Chaudhury
