Angel Food Bakery Leaves Downtown Minneapolis for St. Louis Park’s Texa Tonka - Eater Twin Cities
"Angel Food Bakery is moving out of downtown Minneapolis and into the newly renovated Texa-Tonka strip mall in St. Louis Park. In an Instagram post, owner and pastry chef Katy Gerdes lamented the decision to leave, but the lack of downtown workers and foot traffic have made the almost nine year old bakery’s location, untenable. The new spot will expand the doughnut, cake, and other sweet treat offerings the bakery has been known for, and add a coffee bar with espresso drinks and beans from Folly Coffee. Plus there will be brewed teas and kombucha on tap. Plus, for plenty of warm weather fun, Gerdes’s Frio Frio, the ice lolly company she runs with her spouse will share kitchen space and, if all goes according to plan, also sell boozy frozen treats. There’s also an expansive patio space that Angel Food will share with its neighbor, Revival. Angel Food’s downtown location has been closed to the public since the pandemic began last year, with orders being shipped overnight through the website.
