"I like the glitzy, chandelier-adorned decor, but the food falls fairly flat: the “sautéed wild mushrooms on toast” are in fact supermarket mushrooms — “not wild, nor hot” — with a Scotch egg plopped on top; a chorizo-leek tartlet seems reheated and is made in a commercial pie crust; a burger is merely OK, isn’t cooked as requested and comes with sad fries (I’d say “McDonald’s does a better job for one-third of the price”); an overcooked salmon on a pasta dish shows negligent cooking; desserts like the ambiguous “Gâteau Brasserie 701” just serve up the flavour of baking powder; the wine list is a “snooze-fest.” Only the pan-seared cod with basil sauce gets full approval, though even that suffers from mushy accompaniments, while a salmon tartare and a sweet potato soup merit a pass — overall it was the most mediocre of experiences and I’d give it one star." - Tim Forster
