"Diab tells Eater that Tiliani, located at 1002 South Military Dr., is slated to open as soon as mid-May and will offer a coastal Italian menu that leans heavily on seafood, high-quality cuts of halal meat, house-made pasta, and wood-fired, naturally-leavened pizza. He says it will be a very traditional Italian restaurant focused on Mediterranean coastal seafood and fine meats rather than dishes like chicken or shrimp Alfredo or chicken Marsala. The spot will feature a full bar — a departure from many halal establishments — plus an outdoor patio that will be open at least part of the year and heated in colder months to provide an alternative space for diners uncomfortable around alcohol. Diab, a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef who worked under Jared Gadbaw at Michelin-starred Marea and who cut his teeth at Cafe Cortina, draws on his Lebanese upbringing and a family culture of hospitality to shape the restaurant's approach." - Serena Maria Daniels
