"I read that the Popeyes at 7007 International Boulevard in Oakland was suddenly closed after complaints to Cal/OSHA and the California Labor Commissioner alleged child labor violations and a violent, unsafe work environment: employees reported being attacked by customers, under-trained security allegedly pepper-spraying customers and staff, two 17-year-old workers saying they were made to work longer hours than legally allowed, forced to forgo breaks, and subjected to sexual harassment, and an allegation that another employee worked there from age 13 including until midnight on school nights. Popeyes told the paper it will investigate and said, “We will not tolerate any violation of employment laws and if any of these allegations prove true... we will take action against this franchisee.”" - Dianne de Guzman
