"The Tivoli Village location shuttered over the weekend. Fans of Canter’s Deli impatiently waited more than a year for the famous delicatessen to return to Las Vegas after departing Treasure Island near the sports book in 2012. Now the Los Angeles standby closes the doors on one of its locations after less than one year in business. The deli tells fans on Facebook that it plans to move its Tivoli Village restaurant to a new location without indicating where. Canter’s Deli also has a home at The Linq Promenade on the Strip as well. Tivoli Village claims it booted Canter’s Deli due to 'lack of payment of rent over last four months and poor management of the operation. Canter’s was targeting to be turning a revenue of over $2 million in its first year on site, yet repeatedly failed to live up to its obligations leaving the landlord no option but to begin with the removal process this weekend. We look forward to welcoming better operators with higher standards and a better fit for Tivoli Village,' says Philip Knott, general manager of Tivoli Village. The 6,300-square-foot restaurant at Tivoli Village featured room for 200 diners indoors and another 45 outside on the patio. Owner Kevin Jeffers even created a replica of Canter’s founder Art Mortimer’s 1985 mural, Canter’s signature Baker Boy neon sign, and black and white photographs documenting the 86-year history of the original delicatessen. Memorabilia around the restaurant showcased pieces from former Los Angeles Dodgers coach Tommy Lasorda, former Lakers point guard Magic Johnson, Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw, Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, former Cubs shortstop and first baseman Ernie Banks, 'Mr. October' Reggie Jackson, 'The Yankee Clipper' Joe DiMaggio and former Dodgers right fielder Shawn Green." - Susan Stapleton
