"At the Naperville location on 2555 W. 75th Street, two managers were fired after an October 26 incident in which a party of six adults and 12 children said an employee asked about their race and relayed that a nearby regular “did not want to sit near black people,” prompting the group to leave what had been a child’s birthday celebration. Multiple managers tried to relocate the party, claiming the table was reserved, even though the restaurant later told a reporter it does not accept reservations; the family’s Facebook post about the episode was shared thousands of times. Following an internal investigation, the company terminated a service manager and a shift manager and said it has zero tolerance for discrimination, while some other employees reportedly quit. Local officials plan to address the incident at a city council meeting, and the episode adds to a history of recent, separate racism-related controversies and legal claims involving the chain." - Naomi Waxman
