"After its longtime building was sold, I'm noting that Kozy Kitchen, a Knox-Henderson favorite for veggie-obsessed, gluten-friendly fare, will move to Lakewood and open January 1 at 6400 Gaston Avenue. Its new 6,000-square-foot space will double the original size and seat 224 inside plus 65 on the patio, and the quaint BYOB on McKinney will transform into a restaurant with a full bar serving beer, wine, and custom cocktails. The menu built around local organic ingredients will largely stay the same: giant-portioned plates filled with vegetables with a “side” of meat or eggs (for breakfast) instead of the typical protein-and-carb focus; gluten-free salads, soups, and large bowls of gluten-free pasta such as grilled chicken penne alfredo and blackened shrimp spaghetti carbonara; breakfast omelets and tacos; and nearly a dozen rotating flavors of gluten-free layered cakes along with cookies and brownies sans gluten. Hours of operation are still to be announced." - Alaena Hostetter
