"Parked on 41st Street between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, DiSO'S Italian Sandwich Society has been serving takeout sandwiches for the last seven years, but with foot traffic down 80–90% it's often only making about $200 a day and has already cut staff hours and pay; during the afternoon I reported two NYPD traffic agents approached owner Adam Disilvestro around 1:30 p.m. and asked to see his mobile food vending permit, and although he pointed to the permit and letter grade displayed in his window he did not have the paperwork with him and was fined $65 — a penalty he called "inhumane," saying "these officers know what we're going through." Mohamed Attia of the Street Vendor Project called the ticket an "absolutely inhumane treatment" and urged city officials to suspend street vendor compliance fines to protect vendors during the health and financial crisis." - Luke Fortney
