"I'm looking forward to Kumo (which means cloud), a new shop scheduled to grand open by July in Mira Mesa's Plaza Sorrento shopping center: a 540-square-foot, takeout-focused space. Inspired by Japan’s grab-and-go convenience-store sandos built on neat, crustless squares of shokupan, co-founders Messiah Williams, Jeyme Araki, and Victor Ly will offer a menu of classic Japanese-style fillings — egg salad, chicken katsu, menchi katsu (a breaded ground-meat cutlet) — and a sweet fruit-and-whipped-cream sandwich. The shop will also serve a few specialty beverages, including sparkling drinks made with fresh fruit puree and matcha, with plans to add limited-edition seasonal sandwiches and other small side dishes." - Candice Woo
