"I stopped by Pitango's large scoop shop near the Potomac waterfront and found a luscious lineup of 20 gelato and sorbet flavors made with everything from Italian nuts to single-origin chocolates, plus a lengthy pastry counter with croissants, cookies, scones and pastries and coffee drinks from Vigilante espresso; to capture the busy summer season the shop stays open until 11 p.m. (midnight on weekends)." - Tierney Plumb
