"Heading to Nashville’s the Nations neighborhood, the breakfast mainstay from James Beard Award–winning chef John Currence will take over the former EiO & the Hive space; I was told they’re doing a slight remodel at 5304 Charlotte Avenue with hopes to open in mid-September. Each Big Bad Breakfast location is meant to feel like a mom-and-pop rather than corporate, drawing from local businesses and ingredients; they’ll feature murals and wall installations, partner with Nashville Cannery and Kitchen to produce all jellies and jams, and sell proteins like bacon and chicken sausage sourced from their own slaughterhouse in Eva, Alabama. The brand first opened in Oxford, Mississippi, serving staples such as pancakes, egg skillets, and biscuits, Currence published a Big Bad Breakfast cookbook in 2016, and the restaurant’s name comes from the title of Larry Brown’s short-story collection Big Bad Love." - Delia Jo Ramsey
