"Launched as a food truck in 2010 and now moving into a permanent Marina space, Phat Thai preserves its original menu—braised five spice chicken, pad see ew with tempura prawns and soft-shell crab, and the crispy pork fried rice that customers begged to bring back—while turning the popular weekly specials into daily offerings. The move to 2380 Lombard Street comes as Hossain takes over the lease from a family friend, brings his brother in to run a bar with six beers on draft plus a selection of sake and soju, and commissions a San Francisco–inspired mural by artist Inkzilla; for now the restaurant will serve food and drinks through 10 p.m. with plans to pursue an extended service permit. The grand opening is Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. through 10 p.m., and Hossain sees the Marina—buoyed by hotels, tourists, and the Union Street Festival—as a favorable location for transitioning from truck to brick-and-mortar." - Paolo Bicchieri
