"Located at 520 E. Fremont St., I note Fremont East's first chain restaurant is Eureka!, an American pub out of Hawthorne, California serving craft beers and small-batch spirits; it occupies the former Downtown Beat in the Emergency Arts Building with room for 170 diners and a 5,000-square-foot patio, and inside patrons sit in a space filled with industrial and modern touches. Hours are Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to midnight, and until 1 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with weekend brunch Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The menu includes mac n’ cheese balls made with a beer cheese sauce and Fresno chiles for a kick; the cowboy burger topped with shoestring onions, bacon, cheddar cheese, and a beer barbecue sauce; the bone marrow burger with bone marrow shiitake butter, charbroiled onion, horseradish mustard aioli, roasted tomato, and grilled onion; skirt steak with grilled broccolini, red chimichurri, chili flakes, Parmesan, and lemon zest; and a bourbon barrel cake finished with pecans, caramel, and vanilla bean ice cream. Weekend brunch features $5 mimosas and bloody Marys, steak n’ eggs, chilaquiles with ranchero tortilla chips and two eggs, and bead pudding French toast topped with blueberry compote and whiskey crème anglaise." - Susan Stapleton
