"Positioned in the former Eating House space on Ponce de Leon Boulevard, this 42-seat newcomer is the brainchild of chef-owner Michael Bolen and aims to make high-end tasting menus feel less stuffy and more accessible. Lion & The Rambler offers a somewhat accessibly priced $120 nine-course tasting menu that nods to Bolen’s childhood — dishes include trout roe with crème fraîche and nori, tuna with blood orange and furikake, New York Strip with charred onion and watercress, and a Twinkie with sesame amazake and peach with almond and kumquat; diners can add a Regiis Ova caviar supplement for an additional $30 or upgrade the menu with a $55 pairing. The beverage program features a la carte low-proof spirits as well as beer, sake, wine, and house-made kombucha. The space has been completely revamped with dark tones, hand-painted lion frescos by Canadian muralist Derkz, a banquette-lined wall, walnut tabletops, and custom flatware from independent ceramists. Lion & The Rambler opens to the public June 15 at 804 Ponce de Leon Boulevard in Coral Gables; reservations are available online or by calling 305-603-7612." - Olee Fowler
